The Inca’s Were Progressive Engineers

The Inca's Were Progressive Engineers

Machu Pichu was built with an idea that a town could be self sustaining, by proper engineering of the buildings, creating a watering system with individual farm plots that was situated in such a high and remote place that they would be secure from invasion and wars.

If you haven’t been there you should check it out. It might make you wish that our nation was a bit more progressive, while being a sensitive to nature as the Inca were.

12 THINGS SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE DO BEFORE DAWN

by Ben B.Boothe, Sr. | ‎Tuesday, October 15, 2013, 5:36 PM (CDT)

12 Things Successful People Do in Early Morning

(and 2 things that they do later on)

By: Ben B. Boothe, Sr.

I often think of my father, who woke me up early in the mornings when I was a child. I didn’t like waking up, but he made the day come alive and we worked in the garden, played tennis, or cooked breakfast together. Those moments with my Dad are precious memories. My father taught me to smile the sleep away, to feel my body come alive with excersise, to start the day with joy. I recall his laughter when the garden produced a fresh radish, or when he hit a fast curve serve to me on the tennis court under the pre dawn lights. He gloried in the sunrise, it’s many symbolic meanings throughout history. In my adult life, I find that early rising to be a part of my existence. Many of the most successful people I know are awake and productive before dawn. We, early birds have for 25 years called each other in the morning darkness and say; “Hey brother, do you see that light coming in the east?” and we embrace the day with a smile and a thankful spirit. bbb

DON’T BE HESITANT TO WAKE UP EARLY…YOU MIGHT FIND , LIKE GREAT MEN OF HISTORY, THAT EARLY MOMENTS ARE SPECIAL!

  • Breath in, Breath out, and smile. Think this thought: “I am alive! Thanks for another day!”
  • Step on the front porch, or in front of your mirror and say: “This is going to be a GOOOD day!” Sounds silly, but try it…it works!
  • Remember your father, grandfather or grandmother arising early and preparing for the day before the dawn. Know that many, perhaps most, successful people arise early, plan, meditate and start their day with a positive attitude.
  • Wake your body with 20 minutes of moderate exercise. I get up and go to a gym at 5:00 AM every morning, to get the metabolism and brain working. You would be surprised at the number of successful VIP’s who are there before dawn.
  • Read a book, check the news, write a poem. Then create a “TO DO” list. Organize your thoughts and your day. Who, what, where, how and when for your workplace. The quiet moments before dawn allow clear and deep thinking.
  • Keep breathing…deeply… smile as you exhale.
  • Call a friend or loved one. I call my early bird friends and ask “Do you see that bright light in the east. It is called the sunrise.” We have repeated that little ritual joke now for years.
  • Almost every indigenous tribe and religion has a tradition to start the day with a nod or prayer to the “Enlightening sun that brings light and energy, chasing away the cold and darkness”. The idea is, “Seek more light”. Interesting, that the word “En lighten” comes from ancient rituals at sunrise.
  • Remember the most important people of your life. Kiss a child, call a parent or hug a spouse, or drop a kind note to someone, every morning.
  • Hoe your garden, walk in your yard, pat your pet, pick a flower, water a tree, ride a bicycle, jog around the block, ride your horse, fly a kite, jump in a pool, walk around your stupa….just DO SOMETHING. Trust me, whatever you do, it is special in the morning hours.
  • Eat a good meal, to fuel your day. Now before you leave the house remember to leave your family or friends with a positive smile. Don’t leave a cloud of darkness in your wake, leave a bright spirit.
  • Make your day “top heavy”. You will find that the first half of the day is often the most productive because of the way you started your morning. Your will be more energized. While everyone else is trying to get awake, you have already put in 2 or 3 hours. Gradually ease off in the mid afternoon to let your body as well as your spirit, slowly adjust to coming home with low stress. Like a strong horse that has been running hard, cool of gradually by walking a while.
  • On your way home, keep breathing and smile as you exhale. You are alive!
  • Don’t end the day without a look at the stars and a thought of greatful awe.

(If you don’t do #1, 6, and 13, the rest won’t work)

Guns and Economic Trends Valuation and Appraisal Trends

GUNS AND ECONOMIC TRENDS

Dear Friends:

We offer this report on Guns and Economic Trends. My friend, Mayor Alfonso Ortiz, of Las Vegas, NM recently said: “I love your reports but they are so long…!” Well here is another long one, but I hope you find useful acorns of value herein.

In the name of capitalism, remember:

We do commercial real estate appraisals.
We do personal property and equipment appraisals/valuations.
we do Phase 1, 2, 3 Environmental Reports.
Ask about our “7 day discount fee package”

GUNS, GUN CONTROL, THE REVERENCE FOR THE HUNT
(Ben Boothe, Licensed Appraiser, Arkansas , NEW MEXICO, Georgia, Ohio and Broker and Licensed environmental representative, and licensed insurance adjuster in New Mexico, Texas with AND OTHER LICENSES in other states)

GUN OWNERSHIP:

The gun controversy brings up deep-rooted cultural differences. I have studied and thought and spoken to people throughout the nation. I have yet to find an elected politician who says they want to “take sports guns” or personal weapons from us. They, as do a vast majority of Americans, think that “military type assault weapons, machine guns and sniper rifles” should be monitored with preference for the police and our soldier’s use. Now if that is what the American people want and what most politicians want, what is the problem? This is a democracy isn’t it? Majority rules…not the loudest or the most effective gossip. Majority=Democracy. The problem, is as usual, a few radical ideologues. I always worry about those people who say they believe in “Brotherhood” and yet practice bigotry and hatred in every aspect of their lives, from their jokes to their actions. I met a brother Freemason one day, and he hated a politician so much, he simply spewed out hatred…yet tears came to his eyes when he spoke of the love he had for his “fellow man”. Hmmmmmmm What is going on in our culture that we have eliminated ethics from our actions. Let’s remember who we are brothers and sisters, especially on the gun issue.

My dear father, 55 years ago taught me the joy and beauty of the hunt. We went out at sunrise, drove to a far off ranch and he taught me the beauty of nature. How to track, He taught me how to love and appreciate nature. He showed how to keep it clean. He showed me the joy of watching live, wild animals and holding back, that we didn’t have to kill them to enjoy a hunt. How to watch and observe nature opened a new world for me. Today, I still can tell you every animal trail or track within a mile of my cabin, where they sleep, what they eat, even where they have their offspring. My dad taught me how to use a gun, but only to do so if there was a valid reason. He was a decorated Marine hero, had decimated a Japanese troop and he was not proud of the lives he took. At our campfires he taught me more about peace, and not killing than killing. He taught me to shoot so well, that as a 12 year old, if I could see a bird, I could ‘hit’ it. After a while, it occurred to me, that I had already mastered the physics of shooting, the hard part was to master the ethics of respect for life. That is where my dear father, who rescued many Marines on Iwo Jima taught me the best and the most valuable lessons of “the hunt” of life.

I learned love, reverence, discipline, observation, and appreciation. Today I am 65 and to this day, I have hunted deer, elk, bear, and all kinds of small game and birds. I can outshoot many a marksman. But, I also have not killed a deer in over 30 years. Often I track them, I have seen them give birth, I have watched a buck oversee his doe and two fawns eat and water at sunrise. I have climbed into caves to sit with a mother bear and her cubs and watch them come out of hibernation.

I have had these beautiful animals in my gun-sights and then snapped photos of them, saying “Gotcha”. My father taught me that the “hunt” was not about guns or politics; it was about nature, discipline, responsibility and reverence. The hunter of those days is not the typical NRA leader of today. The real traditional hunters of the NRA let radicals take the helm of that organization. Unfortunately the radicals of our world have co-opted the “hunt”, with politics and extreme viewpoints. Those Parents of Sandy Hook’s murdered children, have good reason to walk the halls of Congress, because they are reminding us, that the right to bear arms must be balanced with a legitimate philosophy of life, respect and reverence for life. Today’s macho man who has to spend $6,000 on a 50 caliber sniper rifle is not the same ‘hunter’ and does not share the same respect for life or love for nature and our fellow man, those ideals that my dad, the war hero taught me. Does your right to own a machine gun trump the right of a mother to know that her child is safe in school?

No, we will not be sheep, but neither will we be radical red-necks. My dad taught me a basic that I appreciate, and that is if my family, home or property is attacked, I will never be helpless. We will live in peace and enlightened thought. But, The old “Alamo” flag, of “Come and Get It” (the Alamo Canon), suggests that we are not helpless sheep. But neither are we mindless, macho, red necks. We simply, like the old attorney in “To Kill A Mockingbird” have a quiet strength and resources to back up our words. But, to make this political radicalism or to manipulate “gun” ownership into an extreme political fight, is below main stream or enlightened America.

We can only hope that our leaders of this great nation will come with balance and perspective, to respect the lives and traditions of America.

When I go to Washington D.C. I try to encourage our elected officials, to act in enlightened idealism, for our nation, and to avoid party conflicts. Work for he people, not the party.BenDC

99.9% of us don’t need a $1200 to $4,500 assault weapon to live productive, useful and contributory lives. If that is what it takes to make a person feel like a “man” something dreadfully is wrong in our culture. My father, was wounded numerous times, and yet, while behind enemy lines, did his duty. But once I asked him how to deal with conflict and would he teach me Karate and the ability to fight some thugs in our town. He told me: “Ben, learn to deal with conflict with your mind. Fighting and killing takes you to a lower level. I have taught you to use a gun, keep that deep and quiet within and only use it as a very last resort. But live your life with ideas, with love, with respect. Don’t let anyone turn you into a killer.”

I have tried to live by that advice and it has blessed me. I am surprised that so many affluent and educated people in the USA never got that kind of teaching. I am disappointed when I find an educated and affluent business leader, filled with shallow bigotry and reactionary thinking. But the good people, the good thinkers emerge and they inspire. They are our true and best Americans, filled with insight, wisdom and working for our nation above all.

On gun control, you must see this little video. It may bring a smile to your face.

See the You Tube on gun control and shortages:

GUN APPRAISALS: By the way, if you have a gun collection worth $50,000 or more, we can do a certified inspection and valuation on your collection, with our new associate who is an experienced buyer and seller of guns. It might be a good idea to have your collection of guns, swords, art and collectables appraised and we have the people who can do this for you. It will require a complete listing with serial numbers and photos and inspection, all confidential. Our fee is typically 5 to 6% of the value of the collection with a minimum of $2,000. But for insurance and estate purposes, this should be an essential basic for those who collect quality items.

ECONOMIC TRENDS:

The economy in Albuquerque, New Mexico is picking up nicely with many new projects underway. Agricultural sectors are doing well, as are the oil and gas mining areas. Other areas with water shortages, no agriculture, no energy or mining are suffering and some towns are dying.

We were observing a strong economy, led by areas such as Houston, Atlanta, Dallas, as well as Phoenix, Miami, Chicago and others. Many of the strongest economies such as Houston, are hotter than the rest of the nation, fueled by energy, shipping, medical industry and defense spending. Virginia, Georgia, Texas, California and the Carolinas enjoy almost 40% of all of the federal military spending of the nation. The “Sequestration” cuts are slowing coming into effect, and it is impossible to ascertain the impacts on those economies, but it certainly will be bad and lead to more people out of work.

WE RECENTLY OBSERVED ONE SMALL TOWN THAT HAD NO WATER, NO INDUSTRY, NO MANUFACTURING. WITH ONE MAN, THE MAYOR, WORKING THE PHONES AND A CHAMBER TRULY DEVOTED TO HELPING HIM, HE SINGLE HANDEDLY BROUGHT IN NEW INDUSTRY. THE TOWN GREW FROM 18,000 TO NEARLY 28,000 OVER A 7 YEAR PERIOD. THEY SIMPLY MADE THE TOWN GOAL TO BRING IN MANUFACTURING…AND DID IT. NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY SOME TOWNS ARE GROWING AND PEOPLE ARE MAKING MONEY, WHILE OTHERS ARE CONTENT TO DRIFT AWAY.

Bank's Job is to Maintain Stable Money Supply

Banks are by law to maintain stable money supply           We point you to cities and areas that have the following characteristics excel in economic growth:

  • Energy industry whether it be oil, gas, wind, solar, coal, hydroelectric production.
  • Medical and health care industry presence
  • University and educational institutional presence.
  • In the past we always included military and federal government presence, but now that is a question mark, until the radical elements of Washington agree to compromise and eliminate these sequestration cuts.
  • Food production and agriculture
  • Manufacturing
  • NOW SEE APPRAISAL OBSERVATIONS: Banks are again lending on commercial construction
  1.  Banks are lending for new homes, purchases and construction
  2.  Home prices are higher now than they have been in 6 years
  3. Foreclosures are largely absorbed, or stabilized
  4. Hotel and hospitality industries are growing
  5. Hospitals are expanding
  6. Oil, natural gas and other energy industries are hiring and booming.
  7. The wind industry is charging back and solar energy is expanding as prices and effectiveness have improved.
  8. Retail and mall locations are being purchased, renovated and upgraded as new modern investments
  9. Condominiums are again in favor.
  10. The prison industry is in realignment, but we see many new creative uses for prison facilities that have shown increased vacancies, as rehabilitation, educational, and social service facilities.
  11. Communities that promote farming and agriculture are an essential part of production and growth.
  12. Communities that have industry or manufacturing continue to create jobs and economic growth.

Quotes for living and dying

ImageChief Tecumseh, Shawnee  1768-1813

“So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.

Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none.

When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.”

~ Chief Tecumseh (Poem from Act of Valor the Movie)

Ethan’s career started as a bank teller, working for his father in high school and in college.
